Successful Tips For New Puppy Owner

If you decide to own a puppy in your home, you will be faced at first with different behaviors of your puppy as whining, biting, Jumping, chewing, and pooping on the carpet, so the suitable care and the proper training are necessary for your puppy during the puppy’s first few months. You should know that the things that your puppy learn in its first few months would last with it the rest of its life. To control your puppy’s destructive tendencies as a new owner, you should follow these tips:

1: Prepare your home for your new puppy

You should prepare your home for your new puppy by providing a safe and comfortable environment for your puppy through removing poisonous plants and toxins, purchasing electrical cord protectors from your local hardware store. You should make sure that you have safe chew toys for your puppy and remove anything that your puppy would destroy by chewing it like your shoes.

2: You should take your pet to the vet regularly

Taking your puppy to the vet to get it checked out is considered one of the first things you should do after bringing your puppy to your home. You should set up the vet appointment within the first two weeks of bringing your new puppy to your home, and your vet should provide you with important information on vaccinations, flea and tick control and more, because your puppy shouldn’t be taken to public places before properly vaccinated.

3: You should start socializing your puppy early

Socializing your puppy ensures that you will have a well- adjusted pet that is able to adapt to different situations.  You should socialize your puppy between the age of 3 and 12 weeks as after the age of 12 weeks, it will become so difficult to introduce your puppy to new places and new people. You should decide the suitable amount of socialization, and you should know that the more experiences that your puppy will learn will last with it the rest of its life. You should get your puppy adjusted to different sounds, places, and people that your puppy will be exposed to throughout his life with you. If you find your puppy seems scared during socialization as introducing it to other dogs, you should try sitting further away, but a comfortable distance to allow your puppy observe the situation.

4: You Should exercise your puppy regularly

It is important to exercise your puppy regularly to keep it in a good health. You should make sure that your puppy feels safe and secure while training. Most professionals suggest getting a lightweight collar and leash and once it gets used to the collar, you can move onto a different kind in the future once you understand your dog’s needs better. If your puppy is nervous while adding a collar, try slipping it when there are other distractions to occupy your puppy’s mind. Leash- training your puppy requires a lot time and requires being calm as small steps will lead to big gains and your puppy will walk nicely on his leash with you.

5:You should housebreak your puppy

You should give your puppy breaks every two hours, especially after meals. You Should get your puppy on a regular schedule. If you aren’t able to take your puppy out with that great of frequency, you should limit his roaming access by getting it into a small space like a bathroom or a kitchen.

6: You should choose the right person whom you trust

If your puppy is behaving strangely or has hurt himself you will turn to the internet to take advice from it, but not everyone on the internet knows as much as your vet knows. If you are concerned with your pet’s behavior or health, you should choose the vet whom you trust in him and make an appointment with him to get your puppy checked as soon as possible.

7: You should encourage your puppy by rewarding its good behavior

You will notice, in the first few weeks that you have your puppy at home, your puppy is misbehaving more than he is behaving, so you should reward your puppy if it does anything good to make it understand better and learn quickly, but waiting until it is misbehaving to give it the attention isn’t good for you and your puppy.

8: You should train your puppy to obey you

To help your puppy learn quickly, you should teach it some skills as sitting for a treat or coming when called. Your puppy shouldn’t begin proper obedience courses before reaching three or four months in age to make sure your puppy is properly vaccinated and then you should enroll it in a class to learn more basic skills.

9: You should be consistent in how you raise your puppy in your home

If you want to own a puppy in your home, you should be consistent in how you raise it in your home, so you should be good about serving meals at regular times and taking him out around the same time every day. If you reward your puppy for doing something, don’t reprimand it for doing it later, so your puppy will understand how things work in your home.

10: You should make your puppy enjoy by taking a lot of photos of it

You should know that your puppy is growing so fast, so you should enjoy every moment with your puppy by taking many photos of your puppy to document your beautiful moments with your puppy.

If you don’t have a vet for your puppy, you should ask the breeder or local Kennel Club for a recommendation for a suitable vet. You should make an appointment with the veterinarian to give the puppy a complete checkup within 72 hours of your purchase. If your veterinarian offers microchip ID implants, it will be an excellent to get one for your puppy.
